Most of the time people will say that the book was better than the movie, but in a few instances a movie has actually managed to outshine the book it was based on. Here are some of the movies that turned out better than the book. Do you agree?


You might not even be aware that Forrest Gump was based on a book written by Winston Groom that came out 8 years before the blockbuster movie starring Tom Hanks. That’s probably because the movie totally outshined the book. Even the author, Groom, admitted that the movie “took some of the rough edges” off of his novel, making the movie an improvment. The result was that Forrest was a much more believable character than in the book.

Parque EcoAlberto is a theme park in Mexico that recreates what it is like for Mexicans to sneak across the border into the USA. People actually pay $20 to go through a very realistic 4 hour trek over fences and trenches and try to get past border agents shooting at them and attack dogs. Of course it’s all fake, but it seems very real. The point of the park is the deter participants from actually attempting to illegally cross the border and it works.
