Wrong again! You can get pregnant at any stage of your menstrual cycle. Although during your period is not the most likely time of the month for you to get pregnant, it can happen.
Sperm are hardy little swimmers that can survive for up to five days in your reproductive tract. Combine that with a long menstrual period that ends closer to ovulation, a shorter cycle in which ovulation occurs sooner, or ovulation during your period, and pregnancy is a definite risk.
